If a headline or summary is wrong, misleading or unfair, tell us. Here is what happens next.

How to report a mistake

Write to us. Tell us which story and what is wrong. A link to reporting that shows it helps.

Until our inbox is live, send messages through the Instagram page.

What we do

  • We check the report against the original sources.
  • If we got it wrong, an editor corrects the headline or summary, or withdraws the story. A withdrawn story’s page says so, with the reason, and the story leaves every list and feed.
  • A corrected story says so at the top, with a note on what was wrong, and lists every change under “What changed”. The latest corrections and withdrawals are listed below.
  • If a summary can’t be fixed reliably, we show the headline and source links only.
  • We reply to tell you what we did.

Mistakes in the original reporting

We summarise other outlets’ reporting. If the source itself is wrong, we can remove or correct our summary, but please also contact the outlet. How we write and check stories is described in our editorial standards.
